Full-cycle innovation from concept to prototype: Onux redefines urban mobility and wins the Ei! Award for Elisava’s Best Final Degree Project.
2022

Onux is a modular battery-swapping system for electric mopeds, designed for user-friendly operation and seamless urban integration. Entirely conceived, designed, engineered and prototyped by our team, the project covered every phase from research and design to mechanical development and production.Awarded the Ei! Award for Best Final Degree Project, Onux sets a new standard in sustainable mobility and multidisciplinary design.

Why Onux?

By 2035, Europe will ban combustion engines in cities. As scooter-sharing systems rise, traditional battery management models based on manual replacement are becoming obsolete, inefficient, expensive and unsustainable.
Current systems rely on manual operators, causing delays, unnecessary costs and poor user experience. We aimed to empower users through a faster, smarter solution.

Battery Swapping Made Smarter.

Onux allows users to independently swap scooter batteries at interactive charging stations. Designed for real-world use, it combines intuitive functionality, ergonomic design and a robust modular system.
All built for manufacturability and mass deployment.

Swap & Go in 3 Steps.

The interface and product were designed to be so simple, any user could complete the exchange in under 30 seconds.

1

Remove the depleted battery from the scooter.

2

Insert the battery into the Onux rack.

3

Take the charged battery and continue your ride.

About This Project.

Onux was developed by the ERT-Lime 4.0 team at Elisava in 2022. As lead CAD designer, I worked on the system architecture, product strategy, 3D development and all the visualization, bridging engineering with industrial design.
